Cross Country News

Monday 4th February 2018 - MPSSA Cross Country

On Monday the 4th February, Mr Austin, Mrs Sweeting and 20 KS2 children went to a cold, windy, muddy and hilly cross country event at Hughenden Manor. After a jog round the track, we knew where we were going and were ready to race! There were 4 different races: year 3/4 boys, year 3/4 girls, year 5/6 boys, year 5/6 girls. Every single child tried their hardest and showed a real growth mindset, especially when running up the steep hill halfway round. After all was said and done, Great Missenden School won both the girls overall trophy and the boys overall trophy! Every child contributed to this win, showing real desire and commitment to represent the school, not giving up in tricky conditions. A huge well done to everyone involved, you should be immensely proud!

Hervines Park Cross Country - Saturday 27th January 2018

Hervines Park was exactly as the organisers said it would be, muddy! We had 34 children participating in the event to represent our school, who all showed their determination to support their peers and challenge themselves. The cold and damp weather clearly did not impact our runners, as they all displayed their growth mindset from the start line through to crossing the finish line, even supporting each other during the event! In the team trophies, Year 6 Girls achieved a bronze medal! It is all about the taking part as all the children were fantastic and a huge well done to everyone!

FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER 2017

Inter-House Cross Country Competition - Today the whole school took part in the inter-house cross country competition. It was a fantastic event and every child showed the Great Missenden growth mindset in action. The results were as follows -

1st place - Chiltern

2nd place - Hampden

3rd place - Carrington

4th place - Penn

Well done to everyone involved!

SATURDAY 18th NOVEMBER 2017

Lowndes Park truly lived up to its expectation of being a challenging course! We had 42 children participating in the event to represent our school and they were all ready to use their Growth Mindset for the first hill. The day started with brilliant cross country weather and it was excellent to see the excitement and determination of our children at the start line and crossing the finish line! In the team trophies, the Year 6 Boys achieved fourth place and Year 6 Girls achieved second place! It is all about the taking part as all the children were excellent and a huge well done to everyone!

SATURDAY 14th OCTOBER 2017

What a fantastic morning at RAF Halton! We had 38 children participating in the event to represent our school and with the weather on our side, the races began. It was great to see the excitement and determination of our children at the start line. With their Growth Mindsets ready, all children completed their races! In the team trophies, the Year 6 Boys achieved first place and Year 6 Girls achieved third place! It is all about the taking part as all the children were excellent and a huge well done to everyone.
