We follow the same creative curriculum approach as the main school. This year, the children will be joining Reception Class in learning about the following topics:
Our topic this half term, 'At the Bottom of the Garden', will provide lots of opportunities to learn about plants and minibeasts. We will plant seeds, tend to our Pre-school garden, and learn about what seeds need to grow. We might even get a visit from the fairies and elves at the bottom of the garden!
The children have a choice of free play activities and planned experiences each day, as well as daily phonics inputs.
The children will have a phonics input each session, where they will learn sound discrimination, and oral blending and segmenting skills. As the year progresses, we will also learn letter sounds and actions. We follow the recommended Department for Education 'Letters and Sounds' scheme with resources from a variety of sources to support learning.
Water Bottles / Drinks
Please provide a named water bottle for your child to access throughout the day. Following the school's healthy eating policy, please can these contain water and not juice. We do provide water if you forget a water bottle, and the children can also choose to drink milk at snack time.
Family Fun Afternoons
We have a family fun sessions every half term from where we welcome parents to come in and spend the afternoon in the classroom. Each session will have different theme and these are on different days of the week to try and cater for everyone to be able to join us.
