THURSDAY 21ST JUNE 2018
MPSSA Athletics - This week we took 40 children to a KS2 Athletics event hosted at Prestwood Junior School. The children competed in field and track events and it was a very close competition. As the results were being decided we couldn't tell where we were going to be placed. We waited patiently and were rewarded with FIRST PLACE! This is the 3rd MPSSA event we have won this year and another piece of silverware we have brought home.
School Games Tennis - Mr Austin was incredibly impressed by all 4 tennis players that represented our school this week. They showed incredible skill and sportsmanship. The children thoroughly deserved to go through to the school games final. We have some Wimbledon players in our sights.

Badminton - This week the selected badminton players were taught the games that they will be playing at the School Games - 5th July.
FRIDAY 15TH JUNE 2018
Today a team of 8 cricketers took on the Gateway in a local cricket derby. The children played incredibly well in our first cricket fixture. It was an incredibly close game, with only 6 runs in the final score. The Gateway managed to just take the win this time but we will organise to play again as it was a great success. The children represented the school very well! Congratulations team!
WEDNESDAY 6TH JUNE 2018
Today we took 8 year 3 and 4 children to a tennis competition at The Misbourne School. This was a school games qualifier. The children played incredibly well and faced some fierce competition. The children were split into an A and B team. The B team came 4th whilst the A team came 1st overall. This means we have qualified for the School Games final in July hosted at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. Well done to both teams, you did the school proud!

Year 1 enjoyed a sunny afternoon of athletics at The Misbourne school on Tuesday 1st May 2018. They participated in variations of discus, javelin, long jump, hurdles and finished with fun races (sack, egg and spoon and relay). Everyone behaved impeccably and we were very proud of them!

Year 3 and 4 went to the Misbourne school to take part in the Tri-Golf competition. This was a school games qualifier competition. Great Missenden not only won but came 1st, 2nd and 3rd and will therefore be attending the grand final at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in the summer. Well done years 3 and 4.
TUESDAY 20TH MARCH 2018
Today 10 year 5/6's represented the school in the MPSSA Tag Rugby Tournament against Holmer Green, Prestwood and Little Kingshill. The tournament went very well and the team went from strength to strength. We started out slowly but then began to come together and work as a team as the tournament went on. We managed to get into the playoff's for 1st and 2nd place and played the strongest opposition again. It was a tough game that was high scoring. We manged to win the final game 15-11 and won the tournament overall. Congratulations Great Missenden School, Mr Kaye and Mr Austin were very proud! Thank you to all parents and staff that came to cheer us on.
TUESDAY 13TH MARCH 2018
On Tuesday 13th March, Year 4 went to The Misbourne school to take part in a football tournament with three other schools. Some children had never played football before but, with true Great Missenden mindset, everyone had a go, had fun and even made new friends! During the afternoon, many goals were scored and many of our teams were victorious in their groups.Well done!
TUESDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2018- Handball Competition
Mr Kaye took 10 year 5 children to the annual year 5/6 handball competition held at Holmer Green. The competition was fierce and some of the opposition we faced towered above us but we were resilient and stood strong. We scored some fantastic goals and demonstrated out sporting mindsets! Great Missenden came fourth overall but all the children and parents had a fantastic time and represented the school well. Well done!
TUESDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2017
Today year 1 children took part in a Multi-Skills event at the Misbourne School. The children took part in lots of activities and rotated around stations. They did activities that focused upon throwing and catching and gross/fine motor skills. They had a fantastic day and everyone came away with a certificate and lots of smiling faces!

Year 5 went to Chiltern Hills Academy for a sports afternoon of netball and football. All children participated in tournaments and 2 of the Missenden teams progressed into the netball and football final stages. All in all the children had a fantastic afternoon.

On the 10th October Year 5 were lucky enough to have Susie visit from the Misbourne to do an interhouse competition. We split into houses and took part in an archery activity on the field and a curling activity in the hall, these were both lots of fun! Well done to Hampden for winning the archery and Chiltern for winning the curling. Another big well done to Carrington and Penn for being very supportive of each other and for fantastic listening!

On the 26th September 2017 Year 2 kicked off the new term with an outdoor adventurous activity festival at the Misbourne School. They participated in numerous activities including parachute games, sporting relays and even worked on their teamwork and cooperation. After speaking to Year 2 it was clear that they had a fantastic day!
