Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

16th May 2017

Dear parents

We are pleased to say that the swimming pool is open again so please can all children have their swimming kits in school for Wednesday 17th.

On Wednesday 24th May Year 2 are going to the Misbourne School for a games afternoon so the children will swim in the morning for this week only. The children will still need their swimming kits in school this day.

Friday 19th is seaside and pirates dress up day - children can come to school dressed for the seaside or as a pirate. Please can the children also bring the ingredients for their ice-lollies.

Our topics for the coming term are Seaside and Pirates - I am sure that we will have lots of fun finding and locating seasides on a map of the British Isles, finding out how holidays to the seaside have changed over the years and learning some 'sea shanties'. We are also planning an exciting seaside day - we will let you know more about this soon.

There will also be opportunities to explore the properties of different materials in science.

PE this term will be on a Thursday - please ensure that all children have their kit in school.

Swimming will take place on a Wednesday afternoon please ensure your child has the appropriate swimming kit.

  • Children will need a towel and a swimming costume – preferably a one piece costume for girls.
  • They may wear arm bands if they choose (Please can you blow them up before school.)
  • Anyone with a verucca should try and cover it with a verucca gel before the lesson. A verucca sock may be worn but is not necessary.
  • All jewellery must be removed before swimming.
  • A swimming hat must be worn by all children with hair that is long enough to put in a pony tail. No hat means no swim!
