Friday 17th July 2020

Good morning and a very Happy Friday to you all!

Firstly, I am so sorry that I did not do a daily update yesterday. πŸ˜Ÿ

I hope you are all well today. It looks like it is going to be a sunny and warm day! β˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž

I have really missed you all in school and have been thinking of you lots. I want you to know how proud I am of each of you for continuing to work so hard. You are superstars! β

I have a little something for each of you to say thank you for being such super members of 2C...I will leave them at the office along with some of your other school books for you to collect at some point.

Have a fabulous summer. β˜€οΈπŸŒ΄πŸ‰πŸ§πŸŒ»

Good morning!

How are you all today? I hope well. It's only two more sleeps until the Summer holidays! I can't believe it! The last few weeks since we've been back at school have absolutely flown by!

You all impressed me with another super day of work yesterday...well done! πŸ€© Again, lots of you loved completing the mystery games in English and it was great to see you using your Phonics or SPAG skills effectively to solve the clues.

I want you all to know how incredible I think you have all been this year, particularly over the past few months while you have been carrying out Distance Learning at home. I know it has not been easy but you have all used your growth mindsets, worked your socks off and I am immensely proud of you all. πŸ˜

I hope you like this poem...

Have a wonderful Wednesday and I look forward to seeing lots of your lovely faces in school tomorrow.

Good morning!

I hope you're all well and had a great day yesterday.

I am so impressed that despite being the last week of term, you are all still working so hard...you all did such amazing work yesterday. Well done! πŸ˜„

Lots of you loved completing the mystery games in Maths yesterday and worked hard to solve all of the clues. πŸ” I hope you enjoy the English tasks today where I have set you a similar mystery game, but this time involving using Phonics and SPAG skills.

The acrostic poems that you wrote yesterday were FANTASTIC! I loved them! You are all my special shout outs for today! πŸ€©

When we are in school on Thursday and Friday I am going to give you some time to tidy out your trays and sort all of your books. Please can you all bring in a plastic bag to put all of your things into. Thank you.

I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday.

Good morning!

I hope you all had a great weekend and had lots of fun! On Saturday I spent the day with my parents and my sister and her family, who I hadn't seen since the start of lockdown. My three nephews had all grown so much! It was so lovely to see them all!

Can you believe that this is our last week together?! The year has absolutely flown by! But as the saying goes...

Normally, we have a whole school Talent Show at the end of the school year. Sadly this year we are unable to. However, we are going to be having a Year 2 Talent Show this Thursday! How exciting!

This will give you all an opportunity to showcase your many talents! You can perform any talent you wish: singing, dancing, reciting a poem, playing an instrument, performing a magic trick, telling jokes etc.

Depending on what you are going to do, you may wish to pre-record your act at home and then send in a video for us to watch.  You may bring in a costume and any other props that you will need for your act.  Acts are limited to three minutes or less. There is no obligation to participate in the Talent Show. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

So this week I will be setting Distance Learning for today and tomorrow and then Wednesday will be a chance for you to practise your entries for the Year 2 Talent Show!

I hope you all have a magnificent Monday.

Good morning!

It's Friday! Yippee! We've made it to the end of of penultimate week in Year 2...I can't believe we only have 1 week left! πŸ˜’

We had a fun day in school yesterday. The children completed their quizzes in the morning and then spent some time in the afternoon working on their Yearbooks. Halfway through the afternoon we nipped outside for a run around and some fresh air and got caught in a huge downpour! β˜” Needless to say we all got very wet! Oops! The children didn't seem to mind though and enjoyed dancing in the rain! πŸ˜„

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Good morning!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready and raring for another week!

Woody had a lovely relaxing weekend and mainly slept...

Jeremy's was not quite so relaxing. He had a wash, spin and dry in preparation for his return to school this week!

It was fantastic to see so many of you back at school on Thursday and Friday...I hope you all had a great time! πŸ™‚

Good morning my lovely 2C Distance Learners!

How are you all today? I hope really well.

I spent all day yesterday in school getting everything ready for the return of Year 2 today. The classrooms look very different with less tables and chairs in them! When I got home I found Woody fast asleep on my bed! He'd clearly had a very busy day! πŸ˜‚

I was so impressed with the amazing work all of you did yesterday creating junk percussion! I know that Mrs Hulbert was really impressed too! 🎡 It looks like you all had a lot of fun! I received some great photos and videos to show your super creations and the music you were able to make. Mrs Hulbert is going to add some of the videos to the 'Celebration of music at home' section of the Music Distance Learning page, so keep an eye out for those!

I will miss your gorgeous faces at school today and will be thinking of you lots. πŸ˜Š

Good morning!

How are you all today? I hope really well.

Can you believe that it is now July?! Where has this year gone? 🀷‍♂️ And more excitingly, can you believe that it is now only 1 more sleep until most of us will see each other again?! I cannot wait! πŸ˜

It is great to hear that lots of you are keeping really active. Yesterday, as well as going for a  4 mile walk, Sarah also took part in an online clubbercise class...go Sarah! πŸƒ‍♀️ Lucas went on a bike ride while his Mummy ran. πŸš΄‍♂️ Poppy and Hetty met and went on a social distanced walk in a beautiful poppy field.

Even more shoots have appeared! πŸ™‚ Erin has a shoot in her plant pot which is now 3cm tall...how exciting! πŸŒ»

My special shout outs today go to Poppy, Henry and Charlie. πŸ˜€  Poppy has created a wonderful poster to show the functions of the different parts of a plant. It is bright, colourful and very informative. Well done, Poppy! πŸŒΈπŸŒΌπŸŒΉπŸŒ»

Both Henry and Charlie did a great job yesterday solving the Maths investigations. They both completed the Are You Nuts?! 'My Striped Scarf' problem. They showed their workings clearly and when needed, explained how they had worked out the answer. They also completed the Extension 'Dress Addy' problem and found all 27 possibilities! Well done, Henry and Charlie! πŸ€©

                Henry

              Charlie

Good morning and Happy Choose-Day!

I hope you're all well today and had a good day yesterday!

Woody was in a very cheeky mood yesterday! 😹 He was trying to "help" me with some jobs but ended up attacking the contents of my recycling bag and making a big mess all over my floor!

More shoots are starting to appear in your pots which is great news! πŸ™‚ Both Ethan and Jack have also noticed tiny shoots in their plant pots showing that their sunflower seeds have germinated...how exciting! πŸŒ»

I thought I'd update you on how our plant investigation is going. Can you remember that a few weeks ago I planted four pots of sunflower seeds and left them in different locations and with different conditions? At the time, you all made some excellent predictions and recorded them on the Plant Growth Prediction Sheet. Here are the results so far...

Pot 1 -  WaterπŸ’§ and sunlightβ˜€οΈ           3 shoots have appeared πŸŒ» πŸŒ» πŸŒ»

Pot 2 - WaterπŸ’§ and no sunlight βŒ        No shoots have appeared❌

Pot 3 - Sunlightβ˜€οΈ and no water βŒ        No shoots have appeared❌

Pot 4 - No sunlight❌ and no water❌     No shoots have appeared❌

I wonder if any other shoots will appear?! I will keep you posted!

My special shout outs today go to Haris, Florrie and Toby. πŸ˜€ They each wrote a lovely letter to themselves explaining all about their recent experiences during lock down.

Haris shared memories of being part of the History Makers. Florrie talked about what and who she has missed and what she is most looking forward to and Toby talked about the fun things he has been up to. They were all super letters! Well done! πŸ€©

As I said yesterday, I'm going to give you some more information today so that you know what to expect on Thursday. Our timetable will be a little different to what we are used to and the school day is a bit shorter. This is because we have to make sure that the different year groups can arrive and leave at different times.

Here is the new timetable:

9.20am    Register and first session (This will usually be Maths or English)

10.00am  Break time

10.30am   Second session  (This will usually be Maths or English)

11.40am   Lunchtime

12.40pm  Register and third session

1.45pm    Break time

We are unable to have Assembly as a whole school in the Hall, but I'm sure we'll have a chance in our bubbles to sing some of our favourite assembly songs! πŸŽ΅

Good morning!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. The weather was slightly cooler which was a pleasant relief after the boiling hot weather we had at the end of last week!

I enjoyed some lovely snuggles with Woody over the weekend and for once he brought me no gifts of mice or birds...phew!

Hetty got some new chickens over the weekend. πŸ”πŸ“ She has named her one Lady Dainty Toes...what a great name!

Excitingly, both Edward H and Miles have noticed tiny shoots in their plant pots showing that their sunflower seeds have germinated...yippee! πŸŒ» Has anyone else noticed any shoots yet? Remember to regularly water them and try to keep them in a warm, sunny spot.

Most of you will be returning to school this Thursday and Friday...I cannot wait to see you all and am sure you are as excited as me to be going back! πŸ˜€ For those of you who are not returning, we will miss you. πŸ˜’

If you are coming back, you should know which ‘bubble’ you are in. You will be allowed in the classroom from 9.10am and will need to be picked up at 2.45pm – please stick to these timings in order for all the school ‘bubbles’ to run smoothly.

Please remember to bring the following things:

  • named water bottle
  • A pencil case with pencils, colouring pencils/ pens, a ruler, rubber, scissors, glue stick and anything else you feel might be necessary.
  • A reading book that you are reading
  • A sun hat or waterproof (weather depending)
  • A packed lunch (unless you are having a school packed lunch)

You will not need to bring a named carrier bag, as stated in the newsletter, because we will be storing your books in your trays. Don't forget that you do not need to wear school uniform! However, make sure that the clothes and footwear you wear are suitable for being outside and taking part in physical activity.

I will give you a little more information in my update tomorrow morning so that you know what to expect on Thursday.

Last night was the last Bedtime Story from the teachers so lots of the staff got involved to make it a really special one. There are two 'Revolting Rhymes' stories to enjoy which I think you will love! Here is the link:

Good morning!

How are you all feeling today? I hope refreshed and energised after a good night's sleep.

It was such a hot day yesterday! 🌞 β™¨οΈ I hope you all managed to find ways to keep cool. Jack decided to eat some refreshing orange to cool down and Miles used a fan! πŸ˜‚

Woody found a shady spot under a bush but after a while even that was too hot for him so he came indoors and slept!

My special shout out today goes to the mathematician, artist and author Charlie! He has been working his socks off this week in Maths and is able to use column addition and subtraction successfully. Go Charlie! πŸ€©

Charlie used pastels to create his colourful sunflower picture. πŸŒ» He used an easel in his garden and looked carefully at his 2 metre tall sunflower for inspiration! I love the rainbow you've added! πŸŒˆ

As you can see, he has worked really hard over the last few days to write up his story, which is all about Pesto the wishing mouse! πŸ I loved it! He has used the Steps to Success  effectively to try to include lots of different skills in his story. Well done, Charlie! ⭐

I can't wait to read all of your finished stories today!

Don't forget to watch the Virtual Brilliant Book Assembly this afternoon. The teachers will be sharing their hidden talents! I wonder if you can guess what any of them will be?!

Good morning Year 2s!

I hope you are all well today and are ready for a day of beautiful sunshine. πŸŒž Woody enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday and spent the day 'sunbathing' in different sunny spots in my house!

Yesterday I received more of your gorgeous sunflower pictures. 🌻 My special shout outs today go to the artists Edward H, Ava, Erin and Lucas! πŸŽ¨

Joshua worked really carefully to draw his picture and then coloured it in beautifully using felt tip pens. Wow! It is amazing! 🀩 Joshua's Mummy also created a sunflower picture which I love too!

My Mum loves drawing and painting. She shared with me some of the sunflower paintings that she has done. Aren't they fantastic! β

It is Father's Day on Sunday. I'm sure all of you will be keen to make something special for your Dads to show them just how much you love them. ❀️ I have added some ideas that I think you will like into the folder as well as a PowerPoint so that you can learn all about Father's Day.

Don't forget to watch today's Virtual Brilliant Book Assembly so that you can find out how all of the teachers have got on with their Growth Mindset Challenges. Mine was to learn to bake cookies! πŸͺ

Good morning and Happy Thursday!

I hope you're all well and had a good day yesterday. Who saw that crazy thunderstorm that we had? β˜”βš‘β˜”βš‘β˜”βš‘ Poor Woody got caught in it! πŸ˜Ώ As you can imagine, when he came in he was absolutely soaked and very scared. πŸ™€ He was NOT impressed! I had to dry him with a towel and after lots of cuddles and  a few cat treats he was feeling much better! πŸ˜»

My special shout outs today go to the artists Max, Toby, Hetty and Tomas! πŸŽ¨ They created the most amazing sunflower pictures using a range of media. πŸŒ»

Max used collage, Toby used a mixture of paint and colouring pencils, Hetty used oil pastels and colouring pencils and Tomas used paint. I love them! πŸ€©

I cannot wait to share more fantastic sunflower pictures with you as you do them. πŸŒ»

My sister and my three nephews also decided to have a creative afternoon yesterday and took on the challenge of creating their own sunflower pictures! Here they are...

Ben (age 7) used a combination of felt tip pens and colouring pencils, Caleb (age 10) used oil pastels and Sam (age 13) used felt tip pens and chose to create his picture in the style of the artist Wes Wilson! My lovely sister (age !!!) used oil pastels. Aren't they fab! β

As I mentioned yesterday, Mr Tang will be setting all of your work for today. You are going to love the tasks he has planned! Please send all of your work to him using the following email address: ks1@gmglt.co.uk

I hope you all had a great day yesterday and enjoyed the lovely weather we had!

My special shout outs today go to Lily, Toby, Miles and Ava. Lily came up with some excellent wishes for the English task on Monday. Go Lily! πŸ€© I loved the pictures that Toby drew for the story mapping task. πŸ™‚

Miles spent most of yesterday completing his story map. He decided to do it on his laptop and mastered the art of using clip art and shrinking images. πŸ’» Wow! I absolutely love it Miles! πŸ€© You are a superstar! β

Ava chose to act out some of the 'Three Wishes for Me' story to help her remember it. What a super idea! Your pictures are fantastic! πŸ€©

As well as the usual Maths, English and Spellings tasks, I have also set you an Art task today which I hope you will all enjoy. There is no pressure to complete this today! It is an extra task for you to complete as and when you have time! πŸŒ»

Have a wonderful Wednesday and try your best to 'be a sunflower'! πŸŒ»

Edward H  had the chance to try some astronaut food yesterday. He tried foods such as  grapes, ice cream, peaches and apple and cinnamon wedges. How cool! πŸ‘©‍πŸš€ πŸš€

On Sunday Poppy cycled all the way from South Heath to Wigginton to see her grandparents. She was a trooper getting up the hills and smiling all 8 miles! Go Poppy! πŸš΄‍♂️

Good morning and Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend and had lots of fun. What did you all get up to?

As you can see, Woody and Jeremy had an exhausting weekend!

I was so so impressed with the Explanation Texts that you wrote about dinosaurs last week. πŸ¦–πŸ¦• You all worked really hard to research, plan, edit, improve and publish your work. Well done! πŸ™‚ I am going to upload them all to the 'Our Amazing Work' section of our Distance Learning page so that you can all have a look at one another's work.

My special shout outs go to Haris, Mirabel and Sebby. Haris wrote out the final version of his work beautifully, setting it out neatly and clearly. Well done Haris! πŸ™‚

Mirabel typed up her final version on the computer and added in pictures effectively to add detail. Fantastic work Mirabel! Good girl! πŸ€©

Sebby also wrote out his final version neatly, setting it out clearly in paragraphs. Go Sebby! πŸ™‚

Mrs Hulbert has uploaded a fun activity onto the KS1 section of the Music Distance Learning page for this week. It involves listening to a piece of music, using your imagination and drawing what you hear. Take a look...I think you'll enjoy it! πŸŽ΅πŸŽ΅

Good morning!

It's Friday and the end of another week! Thank you all for working so hard this week on the tasks I have set. I have been so impressed with your amazing work in Maths...you are all so good at reading and drawing times as well as calculating durations of time. β° I am really looking forward to reading your completed Explanation Texts today. πŸ¦•πŸ¦– You have worked hard to carry out the research and plan and edit your work. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves! πŸ™‚

I hope you all had a great day yesterday. Did any of you get caught in that incredible rain storm yesterday afternoon? I hope not! β˜” Woody and I watched it from my conservatory...it was so loud and as you can see from his face, Woody was very scared! πŸ™€

My shout outs today go to Tomas, Theo and Charlie. Tomas has been really challenging himself in Maths all week and has written and drawn the times really accurately. Good boy Tomas! πŸ™‚

Theo has worked so hard on his Explanation Text this week. He has written it out neatly and even sent me a video of himself reading it which I loved! Thank you Theo! πŸ€©

Charlie has also been working really hard in English. He wrote his Explanation Text beautifully yesterday, and today has done a great job of editing and improving it. I love the illustrations you've added! Well done Charlie! πŸ¦•πŸ¦–

We need to say a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ava for Sunday.

Good morning lovely Year 2s!

I was so pleased to hear that you all enjoyed the 1 minute time challenges yesterday in Maths. Here are photos of Hetty seeing how many times she could write her name, Max seeing how many cars he could line up and Alice and her sister Orla seeing how many times they could touch their toes! I received a fab video from Poppy who managed to complete 66 star jumps on her trampoline. Wow! ⭐ Hetty also sent me a video of her and Cicely touching their toes. Despite a lot of giggles she managed to do it 48 times. Amazing! πŸ€© I'm so pleased that you all had lots of fun! πŸ˜‚

Lots of you received the little packages from me yesterday containing the sunflower seeds. (If you have not yet received yours I am sure it will be with you very soon!) Edward D and Miles followed the instructions from my video very carefully and have planted theirs already. Remember when you have planted yours to put the pots in a nice warm sunny spot to help the seeds to germinate. πŸŒ»πŸŒ»

I was really impressed with the fantastic start you all made to your explanation texts yesterday. It is a very tricky style of writing so please do not worry if you found it hard or did not finish your first draft. As long as you are trying your best that is the most important thing. You have today to either finish your first draft or edit and improve it.

I wanted to share with you all Edward H's, Lucas' and Henry's first drafts. I can see that they spent a long time on their work and used their research notes effectively. Well dome boys! πŸ™‚

Have a great day. Make sure you...

Good morning!

I saw this 'Advice From a Tree' poster and really liked it. I want you all to stand tall and be proud. Always be yourselves because you are all amazing!

We need to say a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one member of 2C and that is the lovely Emilee...

We hope you have a fantastic day! πŸŽˆπŸŽπŸ°

I hope you all had a good day yesterday and enjoyed the glimmers of sunshine we had. Woody certainly did and enjoyed a sunbathe on my patio!

Here are a few photos which I received today and they made me smile! Check out the duplo tower which Jack constructed. He managed to add another 10 bricks onto it before it toppled! Wow! πŸ€© I love this photo of Joshua enjoying a lovely bike ride. πŸš΄‍♂️

Miles wrote a fantastic story called 'Lost Scarecrow' using his 10 spellings for this week. His Mummy sent me a video of Miles reading it.  I absolutely loved it. Thank you, Miles! πŸ™‚

My special shout outs today go to Ava, Sebby, Merryn and Tilly who all worked extremely hard on the English task over the last couple of days. Their research sheets about dinosaurs are fantastic! πŸ¦–πŸ¦• Well done! β

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

I hope you all slept well and are feeling refreshed and ready for a terrific Tuesday!

We have another elderflower cordial making expert in our class and that is Edward D! Yesterday he went foraging for elderflowers with his brother Sam. They found loads! πŸŒΌ

Toby went on a lovely walk by Shardeloes lake yesterday and found two big chunks of honeycomb under a fallen tree! Wow!

I received some more fabulous Science work yesterday. Jake spent time studying a very rare Japanese Handkerchief Tree in his garden. In May it has huge blossom on it that look like handkerchiefs which is why it has the funny name! Jake drew a fabulous sketch of the tree and leaf and also did a great leaf rubbing. Well done Jake! πŸ‚ πŸ™‚

During a wet bike ride, Lucas and his Mummy went off road on their bikes along a bridal path to find some trees for Lucas to observe. He found an Ash tree, a Sycamore tree and a Lime tree. Take a look at his amazing pictures and rubbings! πŸ€©

I have a couple of messages for you from teachers:

1. Mrs Hulbert has uploaded a fun song about the five needs of a plant onto the KS1 section of the  Music Distance Learning page. This ties in brilliantly with our Science lesson for this week and will help you to remember the needs of a plant. Take a look...I know you'll love it! πŸŽ΅πŸŽ΅

2. Mr Tang has recorded a special assembly for you all about racism. I would love you all to spend the time to watch the assembly. You will find the link with today's tasks.

Have a fab day.

Good morning!

How are you all today? I hope you had a lovely weekend and had lots of fun. Did any of you see the thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon? I watched the sky get blacker and blacker and then all of a sudden the heavens opened and...⚑ β˜” βš‘ β˜” βš‘ β˜” βš‘ β˜”Woody was not a fan and tried to hide under my curtain!

I want to apologise for the radio silence from me towards the end of last week...I have not been very well. πŸ™ I spent the latter part of last week and Saturday in bed suffering with a stomach bug. Nurse Woody was on hand to look after me. 🐈 However, he thought that bringing me mice and birds would help...sadly it didn't!

I am feeling much better now and will look through all of your work from last week and get back to you all ASAP!

It is always lovely to hear your news from the weekend. Hetty helped make elderflower cordial this weekend with her Mummy. They picked flowers and made a big mix with lemons and sugar. She then made a label for the bottle. Wow! It looks so good! πŸ€©

It has been great to hear that so many of you are enjoying our Science topic on 'Plants'. I have been so impressed with the work I have received so far. I have been sent some fab photos as well as some great observational drawings.

After completing his work, Max had fun using his Mummy's flower press. Jack and Ethan both did some careful observations of flowers and trees. πŸŒΌ πŸŒ³

Miles spent a lot of time studying the Lime tree and leaf before completing the observation sheet. πŸ” πŸŒ³

Erin drew a fabulous picture of her Mummy's orchid and Theo correctly assembled and labelled the parts of the flower and tree.

I think you will all enjoy this week's Science lesson as you are going to have a chance to do some planting! How exciting! πŸŒ»

Remember that taking time to relax is really important for maintaining positive mental health. One way of doing this is stopping and pausing throughout the day.  At some point today stop what you are doing, look out of the window, let your shoulders drop, stretch and allow your mind to calm down. Alternatively, you can try Charlie's technique...

It looks so relaxing Charlie!

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Congratulations on making it to the end of another week of Distance Learning. Yet again I have been bowled over by your hard work and effort. Thank you for making me the proudest teacher ever! You are all superstars! β

Yesterday was a bit of a chilly and damp day wasn't it?! Woody did not fancy going outside and so spent the day chilling on the chair with Jeremy and his other friends...

It was great to hear that Joshua had a fantastic birthday on Wednesday! He loved opening all his presents, building Harry Potter lego and playing GraviTrax. Despite the drizzle, Joshua enjoyed a picnic in the park and played cricket and boules! It sounds like a lot of fun! πŸ˜„

Haris had a great half term. He played a lot of tennis and enjoyed the garden and the sunshine. 🌞 Look at this amazing photo of a butterfly that he took! πŸ¦‹

I was so impressed with the English work you all produced yesterday. You are all becoming so great at story mapping! My special shout outs today go to Jake, Poppy, Henry and Sarah.

Jake used the computer to create his story map. He learnt lots of skills like image searching, resizing objects and copying and pasting. Jake...it is AMAZING! πŸ€©

Poppy and Henry both chose to do a combination of words and pictures. They have presented their work so neatly and clearly and their pictures are FANTASTIC! Well done! β

Rather than using icons to help her to start memorising the text, Sarah decided to use actions. She 'performed' the text brilliantly and came up with some excellent actions. I loved it! 😍 Click on the link below to watch her performance!

Good morning lovely Year 2s!

I hope you all slept well and are feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead!

Woody and Jeremy enjoyed a lovely relaxing day yesterday and chilled on the sofa, on my spare bed and on the windowsill! πŸ€€

It was great to hear from more of you yesterday about your half term adventures! Sarah enjoyed some lovely walks with dogs and horses!  πŸ• 🐴

Alice enjoyed a ‘home holiday’ over the half term and had fun adventures each day. These included having a pool party and barbecue, a games day with a bowling disco, a ‘making day’ and  a ‘Chinese day’. Wow! That sounds like a lot of fun! πŸ˜„

During half term, Mirabel was very creative. She spent a day with her Dad customising old school uniform – the themes were ‘vampire’ and ‘punk’. She even did some moody modelling! πŸ€©Another day, Mirabel designed a wedding dress using leaves and flowers from the garden.  I love it! πŸ’— πŸŒΊ

My special shout outs today go to Lily and Erin. Lily spent time yesterday with her Nanna and as well as doing some Maths and English, she created these beautiful pictures of a butterfly and a snake. They are fab! πŸ¦‹ 🐍

Erin was on fire yesterday! πŸ”₯ She completed the reading comprehension brilliantly, spent time learning her new spellings and practised 'o'clock', 'quarter past', 'half past' and 'quarter to' times. Wow! Go Erin! β

I hope you all have a terrific Thursday!

Good morning and Happy Wednesday!

Can you believe we're already half way through the week?! Yippee! πŸ™‚

We need to say a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one member of 2C and that is the lovely Joshua...

We hope you have a brilliant day!

It was great to hear from more of you yesterday about your half term adventures! Ethan got a new puppy called Scooby...he looks super cute! πŸ˜Š Ethan also camped in his garden and enjoyed toasting marshmallows...yummy! Here he is at the top of Coombe Hill!

Lucas enjoyed having fun in his paddling pool and going on bike rides. 🚴‍♂️ He had a lot of FaceTime calls with his cousins and also helped spray paint some buckets for a new nerf wall his Mummy made. How exciting! πŸ˜

My special shout out today goes to Freya. She worked incredibly hard yesterday morning; as well as completing the Maths and English tasks, she also completed the Science task for this week...wow! You superstar! β She then had fun making and playing with slime and looking at leaves under her microscope! Go Freya!

Woody kept me company yesterday while I worked. He lay on the table watching me but after a while he struggled to keep his eyes open and was soon fast asleep purring loudly! Do you think he was dreaming of riding motorbikes?! πŸ˜‚

Mrs Hulbert has let me know that she has added a new a song for you all to enjoy on the KS1 section of the Music Distance Learning page. 🎡 The song is called 'Helping Hands' and is all about thanking keyworkers. I've had a look at it and it is great! You will love it!

Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Good morning and Welcome Back!

I can't believe that this is the final half term of this academic year. πŸ˜’ The year has absolutely flown by! As you know, some year groups are returning to school today and I really hope that after the next few weeks we will also be able to go back. I'm keeping everything crossed! πŸ€ž In the meantime, we will be continuing with Distance Learning and I know that you will all continue to impress and amaze me with your fantastic work.

I hope that you all had a lovely half term. Weren't we lucky with the weather?! 🌞 It was gorgeous and I am sure you all had lots of fun outside. It has been great to hear from a few of you to find out what you've been up to!

Miles went for lots of long walks, splashed in the pool, had lots of water fights, played games, read books, bounced on the trampoline, had lots of ice cream and became a frisbee expert!

Poppy spent lots of time camping in her garden, paddling in the paddling pool and playing games with her toys and with her sister and brother.

Charlie and his family had a great time camping in their garden. They had lots of fun on their water slide and even watched a movie under the stars!

Over half term Charlie completed his challenge to run 51km during the month of May! πŸƒ‍♂️ He completed 8 runs and ran a total distance of 52.91km! Wow! What an incredible achievement! Charlie you are a hero! πŸ₯‡ Well done!

During half term I've been busy writing your end of year reports! I also spent lots of time in my garden enjoying the beautiful weather! πŸ˜Ž It was a bit too hot for Woody but Jeremy enjoyed spotting lots of flowers which have bloomed!

Last half term you were all fantastic geographers and amazed me with your magical mapping skills! 🌎 This half term we are going to become super scientists and learn all about plants! I think you will all enjoy it! πŸŒ» 🌳 🌼

I know that after a week off it is difficult to feel motivated to do school work again. Some of you may have woken up feeling like the person at the bottom of this staircase! Or maybe you feel like the person half way up!

Just remember to use your growth mindset, try your best and think how amazing you will feel when you reach the top of the staircase! πŸ€©

Have a great day.

Good morning and a very Happy Friday to you all!

Can you believe it is half term already?! The last 5 weeks have absolutely flown by! I want to start off by saying how proud I am of each and every one of you. You have blown me away with the effort and commitment you have shown during Distance Learning. You have all worked so hard and have produced amazing work that you should be extremely proud of! Thank you. πŸ˜˜A huge thank you as well to your parents who have been so supportive and encouraging and given so much time to help you with your tasks.

I hope you all had a great day yesterday. Woody had a lovely day chilling outside and inside!

Did you manage to do an act of kindness yesterday? Ethan and his brother Drew sent their Granny the below 'hug' as she is missing them and lives down in Eastbourne. That will definitely cheer her up! πŸ™‚ Jack has done a couple of kind things over the past few days. During a walk, he put his hand out to help his Mum climb to the top of a really short, steep ditch. Yesterday, he voluntarily cleaned his sister's glasses so that she could see the screen better. What a kind and thoughtful young man! πŸ˜Š

My shout outs today go to Hetty and Henry. Hetty did a fantastic job yesterday of editing and improving her portal story. I can see that she looked really carefully at the Steps to Success; she has used adjectives, similes, adverbs, personification and a range of punctuation! Go Hetty! πŸ˜Š

As well as completing the Atlas Checklist and lots of the other optional Topic tasks, Henry chose to create his own continent called Rainbowa. He  drew the most amazing map and has included a key to show what all of the map symbols are. Henry...it is awesome! β

Don't forget to check out the Virtual Brilliant Book later this afternoon!

I hope you all have the most awesome half term! Stay safe and keep smiling. πŸ˜Š

How are you all today? I hope you all had lots of fun in the sun yesterday! 🌞 It was so hot...I hope you all remembered to keep yourself nice and hydrated!

Woody loved the sunshine and spent lots of time sunbathing in the garden!

However, after a while he got too hot so thought he'd come and 'help' me with my work! As you can imagine I then could not get much done! Cheeky boy!

I hope lots of you managed to do an act of kindness yesterday. Lucas' act of kindness was that he cleaned his play house ready for when he can see his cousins who love playing in it. πŸ™‚ Alice did a 5K run to help raise money for the NHS! Wow! πŸ€©

My shout outs today go to Jack and Freya. For his Topic task this week, Jack chose to label the map of the world. 🌎 He used his atlas and carefully labelled the continents and oceans. He also spent time plotting where some of his friends and relatives live. What a great idea! πŸ™‚

Freya has produced three fabulous pieces of writing this week for her portal story. She wrote a detailed description of the magical world through the portal, a great account of her hero 'Super Freya' and then a brilliant first draft of the rest of her story. Well done, Freya! β

Make today a great day! Keep smiling! πŸ™‚

Good morning lovely Year 2s!

How are you all today? I hope really well and ready for another gorgeous day! 🌞

Woody loved the sunshine yesterday and enjoyed a lot of naps!

I hope lots of you managed to do an act of kindness yesterday. Miles, Emilee and Alice all did.

Since the start of lock down Miles has been writing letters to his family to cheer them up as he thinks getting something in the post is really exciting. I agree! Yesterday he wrote a lovely poem and birthday note for his cousin who is celebrating a birthday next week to put a smile on his face. What a thoughtful boy! πŸ˜Š

Emilee's act of kindness was to make me this gorgeous cat using Hama Beads. I absolutely love it. Thank you, Emilee. πŸ˜™

Alice and her family have already done two acts of kindness this week. On Monday they posted a surprise chocolate bar and a note to their neighbour who was unwell. Yesterday they sent rainbow pictures to their Great Nan, who is 80 and lives alone, quite far from everybody. What a kind family! β€οΈ

Inspired by Miles, my act of kindness today is going to be to post a letter to each of my 5 nephews. πŸ’Œ What are you all going to do today?  Let me know!

My shout outs today go to Charlie and Poppy.

For his Topic task this week, Charlie has drawn a map of the world on his patio using his atlas for support. Wow! It is amazing! Go Charlie! πŸŒŽ

Poppy has recreated the setting for her story using sand and playmobil! What a great idea! I love it Poppy! πŸ€©

Have a fab day!

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

I hope you're all feeling good today. It is set to be a beautiful, sunny day! Yippee! πŸŒž

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and it comes at a time where it seems more important than ever. This year's theme is kindness and this is a response to the coronavirus outbreak, which is having a big impact on people's mental health. Some people have mental health conditions like depression or anxiety, which means they have feelings that won't go away and which start to really affect day-to-day life.

I would love you to use Mental Health Awareness Week as an opportunity to do some wonderful acts of kindness that can be so important to our mental health and others around us.

For my act of kindness today, I am going to deliver some flowers to my mum...she will be so surprised and I'm sure it will put a big smile on her face! πŸ’ Last night, Woody's act of kindness was to bring me another mouse! πŸ Isn't he kind?!!

What act of kindness are you going to do today?

My shout outs today go to Edward D, Florrie, Lucas and Joshua.

Both Edward D and Florrie wrote the most amazing setting descriptions yesterday for the start of their portal stories. They included plenty of adjectives, similes and adverbs to add detail and description. Well done Edward and Florrie! I cannot wait to read the next part! πŸ˜„

Lucas did an 11.8 mile bike ride at the weekend which involved steep hills...wow! Lucas you are a hero! πŸš΄‍♂️

Joshua made this amazing cardboard castle den with his Dad! 🏰 I love it! The castle door even moves up and down like a drawbridge! Wow! Joshua has enjoyed playing in it, reading in it and has even fallen to sleep in it at bedtime! I don't blame you! It looks very cosy!

I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning Year 2s!

I hope you're all well today. How was your weekend? I hope you all had a lovely time and enjoyed the sunny weather. What did you get up to?

Erin had a great weekend. She enjoyed a relaxing spa experience with bath bombs, face packs and hair masks and then played a fun game of “whack-a-mole” with her puppy Mesmar, a frankfurter and a box! What a fab game! πŸ˜„

Haris had fun making pizzas and has been busy practising his basketball skills. He sent me the most amazing video of him shooting a basketball...it was awesome! πŸ€

Woody spent most of the weekend sleeping! Lazy boy!

He even slept all the way through my bedtime story last night! If you didn’t see it, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b5KnuwD_iw&feature=youtu.be

Mrs Hulbert has let me know that she has uploaded some new optional music activities for you, which you can find on the Music Distance Learning page. There is a song all about the 7 continents and 5 oceans of the world which fits in brilliantly with our Topic lesson for this week. There is also a great body percussion video which I think you will love!

Did you see the video which the school staff featured in? It is called ‘Get Up’ and is a recreation of the original video by ‘Kings Daughters’. It is a feel-good uplifting tune that will help raise your spirits. I think you’ll love it!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Congratulations on making it to the end of another week of Distance Learning! Can you believe this has been the sixth week?!

I want to start with an apology. I am so sorry that I have not been very good at responding to all of your emails showing me the fantastic work that you have been doing. I have had a busy week with lots of Zoom calls with Mr Magee, Mr Tang and Mr Sperring. After Boris' announcement on Sunday night, we have been busy planning for the potential return of some of the year groups back to school after May half term. There has been lots to think about!

I want you all to know how proud I am of each and every one of you. You are all working so hard on all of the tasks that I am setting and the quality of your work is AMAZING! Thank you. πŸ™‚ As I said in the Brilliant Book Assembly last week, you are all my heroes!

Woody enjoyed the sunshine yesterday and spent all day finding warm spots to lie in!

My special shout outs today go to Ethan and Freya. Ethan has super atlas skills and worked his socks off to complete the Are You Nuts?! Scavenger Hunt. Go Ethan! β

As well as getting her own Distance Learning tasks done, Freya has been busy teaching her gorgeous twinnies! Yesterday they learnt to read and spell the word 'dog'! πŸΆ Well done, Freya! πŸ™‚

I also wanted to share some of the photos which have made me smile this week:

Have a great day! Don't forget to check out the Virtual Brilliant Book later this afternoon!

It looks like the weather is going to be lovely this weekend so all that is left for me to say is...

Good morning!

How are you all feeling today? Have a look at the emojis below. Which ones would you choose? Can you give a reason why?

I'm feeling a little tired 😴, but I'm sure after another cup of tea and some breakfast I'll be feeling more awake and energised! I'm feeling sad πŸ˜’ because I'm really missing being in school and seeing all of you lovely lot. However, I'm also feeling excited πŸ˜ because I know that once the emails start pinging in and I see all of your amazing work, I'll feel much happier πŸ˜€ and more cheerful! πŸ˜Š

Yesterday I spent some time in my garden watering the plants and flowers which are all looking gorgeous at the moment! Woody and Jeremy came out to help me! Can you guess from the flowers what my favourite colours are?!

I was really impressed with the work that you all produced in English yesterday. I know it is not easy to map out a text using pictures, particularly when the text is very long! However, you all used your growth mindsets and gave it your best shot which is fantastic. My special shout outs today go to Erin, Jack. and Alice. Their story maps are below:

Erin chose to do hers on the computer and found some brilliant pictures to use. Well done! πŸ€©

Jack drew some fabulous pictures...I particularly love his yellow dragon! πŸ‰

Alice  worked carefully to create a fabulous story map and remembered to include all of the punctuation marks. Super star! β

Have a super day everyone! Keep smiling!

Good morning lovely Year 2s!

I hope you all slept well and are feeling refreshed and ready for the day!

I was very jealous of Woody yesterday because he spent the majority of the day sleeping! He then decided to wake up when he was hungry and came and sat next to me waiting patiently for his dinner!

Talking of cats, if you haven't already seen it, our very own Joshua read ‘Splat the Cat’ for the bedtime story last night. It was amazing! Take a look:  https://youtu.be/0t7nPG4MXpo

It was great to see that some of you chose to complete one of the extra activities after learning about International Nurses' Day. Lucas coloured in a picture beautifully for his nurse at Great Ormond Street and Ava wrote some lovely sentences about her Mummy who works as a nurse.

I have been so impressed with your creative writing in English this week. You produced some fabulous setting descriptions on Monday and yesterday I loved reading all about your chosen characters. Well done!

My special shout outs today go to Toby, Hetty, Jake and Max who used some fabulous similes in their character descriptions. Have a look!

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

I hope you all had a great day yesterday despite the windy and slightly cooler weather.

Woody still managed to catch a little bit of sun in the morning which he was very pleased about!

It was lovely to receive more photos yesterday showing your VE Day celebrations. Alice, Joshua and Tilly all enjoyed social distancing tea parties with their neighbours, Ava dressed up as an evacuee from 1945 and Edward H decorated biscuits with red, white and blue icing!

My special shout out today goes to Sarah who sent me the most fantastic video teaching me how to make banana muffins. I loved it! She explained and demonstrated each step clearly. Sarah...you are an amazing baker! You should be on the Great British Bake Off!

Mrs Hulbert wanted me to let you know that she has updated the KS1 weekly song. It is in the KS1 topic folder on the Music Distance Learning page. This week it is a conservation song about the world's oceans and beaches which sounds great!

Today is International Nurses' Day. This day is observed around the world on 12th May every year and is an event that celebrates the contributions that nurses make to society. If you would like to find out more, there is more information in the folder with today's other tasks. I have added some optional activities which you may enjoy!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning lovely Year 2s!

I hope you're all well today. How was your weekend? I hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the lovely weather. Woody spent the weekend sunbathing and relaxing with his friends!

Henry and Miles both look like they had a wonderful time on Friday celebrating VE Day. They made bunting to decorate their gardens and dressed up in red, white and blue! Those cupcakes look delicious!

What did you all do to ? I'd love to see pictures and hear about how you all celebrated.

I was so impressed with the letters that you all wrote in English last week...they were fantastic! It was brilliant to see that as the week went on your letters just kept getting better and better. You all did a super job of editing and improving your work...well done! Take a look at the 'Our Amazing Work' section of the website to see everyone's work!

If you haven't already done so, I would love to hear how you are getting on with your reading. I would like you to read me a book, ideally one you have NOT read before. Then if possible, get somebody to record you. You only need to read a few pages or you will not be able to send it by email!

This is week 6 of Distance Learning! Let's make it another great week! Just remember to...

Thursday 7th May 2020

Good morning and Happy Thursday!

It looks like it is going to be another lovely day today so I hope all of you get a chance to get out and enjoy the weather. πŸŒž

Woody and Jeremy enjoyed lots of time in my garden yesterday. Woody had fun chasing flies while Jeremy admired the beautiful peonies which have just bloomed. They are stunning! The boys then had a lovely sunbathe but as you can see Woody was being a little bit cheeky and kept trying to attack Jeremy!

I'm really pleased to hear that Lily had a super birthday yesterday. Her cake looked amazing!

It was lovely to receive more videos yesterday of you reading! I know that some of you were having trouble sending the files to me as they were very large. Sending the videos via WeTransfer or Google Drive seemed to work well.

My special shout out for today goes to Edward H. He blew me away yesterday with all of the work he completed. In particular, I was really impressed with his Maths. He was a fractions superstar and solved all of the Mega Hot, Are You Nuts?! and Extension word problems! Go Edward! β Here he is creating his amazing dinosaur models! πŸ¦–πŸ¦•

It is a bank holiday tomorrow to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. I will not be uploading any work so you have a three day weekend to enjoy! Yippee! I am sure that lots of you have fun things planned to celebrate. I would love to see pictures of your VE Day celebrations or anything else you get up to over the weekend.

It has been great to see so many of you completing the extra VE Day activities so far this week. If you haven't had a chance to do any yet, then that might be something you can enjoy doing over the long weekend. However, there is absolutely no pressure!

Although there will be no Distance Learning tomorrow, you can still look forward to a virtual Brilliant Book assembly! Also, if you haven't already seen it, our very own Poppy read the bedtime story last night. It was fabulous! Take a look:  https://youtu.be/3Nz7flTBxos

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe.

Good morning!

How are you all feeling today? I hope well.

Woody and Jeremy had a lovely day yesterday. They had a little nap in the morning after Woody had carefully washed his paws! During the afternoon they sat on the windowsill watching me work!

We need to say a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one member of 2C and that is the lovely Lily...

We hope you have a brilliant day!

I loved watching the videos that some of you have already sent me of you reading. It has been so nice to see your faces and hear your voices! Keep them coming!

My special shout outs for today go to Henry and Erin.

Both Henry and Erin started the day yesterday lacking motivation which I'm sure is something that all of you can relate to! However, they soon changed their attitude and both produced amazing work which they should be extremely proud of. Henry produced an amazing first draft of his letter and Erin was a busy bee completing so much work! Well done to both of you! I love this photo of Henry with his VE Day colouring sheet and the Union Jack flag and the photos of Erin show her amazing new hair! Wow!

Have a fab day!

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you all had a great day yesterday.

During the morning Woody enjoyed finding sunny spots in my house to sleep! In the afternoon he kept an eye on me while I worked!

I am so pleased to hear that lots of you have got into a good routine of working at home and have created your own workstations. It is really important to find somewhere that you feel comfortable to work in. I can see that Edward D, Sebby and Ava have done just that!

My special shout out for today goes to Haris.

Haris has been spending 3 days a week in school with the History Makers and all of the staff who have worked with him have said how hard working, polite and kind he has been. Thank you Haris! As well as that he has been busy at home practising the piano as well as creating an amazing rainbow hand print creation...I cannot wait to see the finished artwork!

Next week in Topic  we will be continuing with our 'Magical Mapping' unit of work. As part of next week's lesson the children will need to have access to an atlas. If you do not have one or will be unable to get one by the start of next week, please let me know. I do have some in school which I can to deliver to you if necessary.

I have been busy updating the 'Photos' and 'Amazing Work' sections on our Distance Learning page. Go and have a look at all of the wonderful work and fab photos you've been sending in!

Have an amazing day!!

Last week Theo and his family completed a 2.6 fundraising challenge where Theo walked 2.6 miles! Wow! Theo...you are a superstar! β

Congratulations to Miles who was the KS1 winner for the Corona poetry competition. His poem ‘Happy Land’ was fantastic! πŸ™‚

Thank you for helping to regularly put a big smile on my face and keep me feeling positive in these strange times.

As you can see, Woody and Jeremy had such a busy day yesterday!

I am so pleased to hear that so many of you have been really enjoying learning about the compass and have been busy practising using compass directions! That is fantastic!

My special shout outs for today go to Freya and Charlie.

Inspired by our Maths work on fractions, Freya sent me a fabulous video she made of the 'Fractions Show' which featured her Barbie and Ken dolls. I loved it! ❀️

Like Toby, Charlie has been busy raising money for charity. So far he has completed two 5km runs in aid of the Run For Heroes 5km challenge and from the 1st-31st of May he will be running a total of 51km over the entire month to raise money for four charities. He also completed the 2.6 challenge yesterday by doing 26 forward rolls in a row! How are you all this morning? I hope well!

I predicted correctly, due to the wet weather Woody and Jeremy spent all day sleeping! What lazy boys!

I was pleased to see that the rain did not stop all of you having a great time and finding things to keep you busy! Merryn had fun baking, Edward H had fun taking apart old electronics, Ethan helped his brother to make a Cheerio caterpillar, Poppy had fun playing with her new puppy Skye and Miles splashed around in puddles!

I have three special shout outs for today and they go to Jake, Sebby and Mirabel.

Both Jake and Sebby worked really hard to come up with actions to help them to learn our model text in English. The videos were both fantastic! Mirabel worked incredibly hard to produce a fabulous sketch map of Great Missenden. Well done all of you! β

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning!

It looks like it is going to be a pretty wet day today but I'm sure you'll all still find lots of things to do to keep busy.

Woody and Jeremy are not fans of the rain so I'm pretty sure they'll spend most of the day doing this...

I have three special shout outs for today and they go to Henry, Emilee and Toby.

A big well done to Henry who has already completed his Topic task for this week and also made a fabulous compass. πŸ™‚

Yesterday I received my very own bedtime story from Emilee! She read me 'The Lion Who Lost His Roar, But Learned To Draw'. Thank you, Emilee! I loved it! heart

Over the weekend Toby completed a 2.6 fundraising challenge in aid of Great Ormond Street hospital. His family made 26 TikTok videos in one day and have raised over £800 plus gift aid so far! Wow! Toby...you are a superstar! β

I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine. As you can see, Woody has had an incredibly busy and exhausting weekend...he has mainly been sleeping!

Edward D went camping in his garden which I'm sure was lots of fun! What did you all get up to?

Well I can't believe that this is week 4 of Distance Learning. You all did such fantastic work last week and should be very proud of yourselves. Let's make this week another cracker...keep working hard, keep impressing me and keep on using your growth mindset!

Have a great day.

We've made it to the weekend! Yippee!

I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday. In the morning, Woody and Jeremy enjoyed playing with Woody's toy fishes. In the afternoon, Woody and I spent an hour relaxing in the sun!

Again, I was so impressed with how hard you all worked on the tasks yesterday. As well as practising finding quarters in Maths and spotting your spellings in the word searches, you all made a great start on your time capsules. Well done!

It was great to also hear about some of the other things you've been busy doing. Erin did some super reading, Ethan make a fantastic lego model and Tilly enjoyed doing her work in the garden!

Don't forget to watch the Virtual Brilliant Book Assembly today. The theme of the assembly is 'True or False', so you can play along at home!

I hope you've also been enjoying the bedtime stories every day from different members of staff. Mrs Walford read the story last night, so if you haven't already heard it, take a listen!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

I'm missing you all lots and lots. Stay safe.

Good morning!

It is another beautiful, sunny day! We have been so lucky with the weather!

Yesterday Woody spent most of the day finding sunny spots in my house while Jeremy went exploring outside!

I've been blown away by hard you are all working on the tasks I have set for you. You are all superstars! It's also great to hear about the other fun things you are doing. Edward H and Jack have both been super scientists, Florrie has been a brilliant baker and Emilee has been busy unpacking in her new bedroom! How exciting!

I hope you enjoy the tasks I have set for you today.

Hello!

Wasn't it a gorgeous day yesterday?! The sun was shining which always puts a smile on my face! It looks like it is going to be another beautiful day today...I hope you all get out and enjoy some fun in the sun!

Woody and Jeremy both enjoyed the sunshine yesterday and spent time in the garden...

I received some more photos yesterday showing how creative you all are! I love it! Check out Poppy's beautiful miniature Easter garden, Jake's fantastic wooden eggs, Freya's colourful walking stick, Hetty's amazing rainbow and Joshua's cute Easter bunny! You guys are awesome!

Take a look at the 'Photos/Videos' section of the Year 2 Distance Learning Page to see lots more photos of your Easter holidays!

I hope you all have a super day.

Good morning!

I hope you're all feeling good today and are ready for another beautiful sunny day! I certainly am!

It was so great to read your recounts yesterday to find out all about your Easter holidays. It sounds like lots of you made the most of the lovely weather we had and spent plenty of time in your gardens or on walks. I see that the Easter bunny visited and many of you enjoyed Easter egg hunts in your gardens!

I loved seeing photos of some of the amazing things you made during the holidays. Lucas made a fantastic dinosaur using junk modelling, Alice made an awesome robot and Ava created a beautiful fairy garden...wow!

As well as hearing all about things you made, it was great to hear about new skills you now have. Sarah sent me a video of her doing a front flip on her trampoline...it was awesome! It is so lovely receiving all of your photos and videos...I miss your gorgeous faces!

If, like Lucas, Alice and Ava, you want to get creative, check out the rest of the Distance Learning pages (Art, DT, Science, History, PE and Music) as there are loads of things you can do to keep yourselves busy! Mr Austin has put up some fab PE videos and there is a 'Thinking Hat' competition on the DT page which looks a lot of fun!

Keep working hard.

Good morning lovely Year 2s and welcome to the Summer term!

I hope that you've all had a great two weeks and have enjoyed the lovely weather that we've had. I've spent lots of time in my little garden with Woody and Jeremy, as well as enjoying daily walks around the town.

During the holidays Charlie and Miles both turned 7! You both look like you had great birthdays! What a fab new bike, Charlie! And Miles...you look super smart...I love it!

So as I'm sure your parents have told you, Distance Learning is going to continue for at least three weeks. Like I said before the Easter holidays, I was so impressed with how hard you were working on the tasks that I set for you. Keep up the hard work!

Have a great day!

Happy Friday!

It's the last day of term...yippee!! Well done for making it to the end of what has been a very strange couple of weeks. I know that it has been hard adjusting to 'school' at home and your teachers being your parents rather than me. I have been so so impressed with how hard you have all worked and the amazing work you have produced! You all definitely deserve a well-earned rest over Easter. As do you, parents! Thank you for your time, effort and support over the last couple of weeks of distance learning...I know it is a big adjustment for all of you too and I really appreciate all that you are doing. smiley

I've had a great week at school with the History Makers but am definitely looking forward to having a couple of weeks to relax and rest at home with Woody and Jeremy!

I hope you all have a hippy, hoppy, happy Easter.

Stay at home and stay safe.

MESSAGE FROM MR TANG

Happy Easter everyone! Well done for all your fantastic work during Distance Learning! The teachers have shown me so much of your incredible work and I am so impressed by the effort and creativity you're all putting in. Superb work so far!

You all need a break to recharge your batteries and enjoy a rest. However, if you find yourself at a loose end over Easter, follow this link to find loads of Easter activities to keep you busy!  https://www.greatmissendenschool.co.uk/easter-activities-2/

There's Easter colouring, puzzles, writing, Maths, cooking and much, much more! I've also included the Orienteering activity I did with Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. You can print it out (or copy onto paper) and show your parents how to play- it would work well around the house and garden!

Mrs Lee has devised some really exciting DT Challenges you can do Easter- you can find these on the Distance Learning DT page- well worth a look!

Mrs Phipps has also passed on a 'Well Being Calendar'- this is a great resource to help you de-stress and be mindful during this period.

Please do not send any Easter work to your teacher's emails over the Easter break- like you, they need time to recharge their batteries and be with their families. They're also busy planning some more exciting Distance Learning for when you 'return' after Easter.

If you produce anything amazing using these resources and would like to show me, please send via your teacher's email after Monday 20th April- they will forward it to me and I'll reply.

As always, you should be reading every day and keep up your times tables- we'll be checking the Numbots and Times Tables Rockstars League in the Summer Term!

I miss you all! Stay safe and enjoy a well earned rest.

Mr Tang

Good morning!

On a scale of cat, how are you feeling today?! I'm currently a 7...I'm a little sleepy still! But I'm hoping once I'm in school and have done the Joe Wicks workout with the History Makers I'll be feeling more energised and will hopefully be a 3 or 6!

Woody and Jeremy were definitely both a 7 when I left this morning...

I enjoyed looking through all of your work from yesterday. It looks like you all had a lot of fun completing the capacity challenge cards and you all created some wonderful calligrams! Well done!

Have a lovely day.

Good morning!

I hope you're all well today.

Thank you for another day of fantastic work yesterday. I love receiving your emails, hearing what you've been up to and seeing how hard you've been working. To support the feedback that I am giving you all, we have also started up Deputy/ Head Teacher’s awards again! If you send me in something impressive I will send it over to Mr Tang and Mr Magee and they will send me some feedback and praise back to send to you, plus a certificate. Keep your great work coming in.

I was in school again yesterday with the History Makers. I think Woody had missed me as when I got home he wanted a lot of attention! He sat on my laptop to stop me from working...cheeky boy!

Good morning!

I saw this quote and really liked it. How many of these are you going to 'choose' to do today? I hope like me you are going to try to do them all!

I spent yesterday at school with the History Makers. Meanwhile Woody and Jeremy stayed at home. When I got home I found Woody peeking from behind the curtain looking a bit cheeky...I wonder what he had been up to?! Later on they had a little nap by the radiator while I started looking at all of your work.

As well as Maths and English, I have also set you a Topic task today. However, this does not need to be completed until the end of the week. There are also some lovely Spring mindfulness colouring sheets if you fancy a relaxing, calm activity.

Have a wonderful day.

Good morning 2C!

I hope you all had a great weekend. What did you all get up to? I went on two long walks...I loved getting outside and enjoying some fresh air, even if it was a little chilly and windy!

Woody and Jeremy had a lovely weekend. They enjoyed playing in the garden and then had a little nap!

I was blown away by your amazing dinosaur acrostic poems that you wrote on Friday. So many of you included adjectives, alliteration and similes as well as presenting your work really neatly. Well done! smiley I am going to upload them to the website so that you can have a look at each other's fabulous work.

Have a great day.

Congratulations on making it through your first week of Distance Learning. I have been absolutely blown away by all of your work this week. Thank you for working so hard...you are all superstars!

I can see that you all loved the measuring challenges yesterday. Woody wanted to have a go too so he used his toy fish to measure Jeremy!

Good morning!

I hope you all slept well and are ready for another great day of fun and learning.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday. I know that a lot of you enjoyed time outside walking, skipping, bouncing, playing football and gardening. Woody and Jeremy enjoyed some fun in the sun too.

However, after messing around in the grass I thought it was about time Jeremy had a wash so he had a super spin in the washing machine! Luckily he does not suffer from motion sickness!

Thank you for working so hard yesterday on the tasks I set. I read some great poem reviews and could see that you are becoming more confident at ordering lengths. It was also great to receive some more pictures of your beautiful rainbow pictures as well as photos and videos of you completing the skipping challenge.

I have created a Photos/Videos section on the Year 2 Distance Learning page so that you can all see each other's creations! I've also added some photos of your pets and you all having fun in the sun! Keep sending in photos. I love receiving them!

Have a super day.

Good morning 2C!

How are you all feeling today? I hope really well and ready and raring to go!

How many of you did the Joe Wicks workout yesterday morning? Jeremy and I loved it! Woody was not so keen and opted for some yoga instead!

Thank you again for all of the emails. I am so proud of all of you for working so hard. As well as completing the Maths and English tasks I have set, many of you are doing extra activities. These included writing stories, doing jigsaw puzzles, taking part in science experiments, creating beautiful artwork, dancing, singing, running, bouncing, skipping, going on nature walks, computing and much more! Wow! You are all AMAZING!

I hope you have a great day today.
