Emotions- Self-regulation is very important, especially as we are now spending time in a different environment. Remember to assess your mood regularly and check what might be causing changes, for example, I just ate a big meal now I feel heavy and slow and tired, that’s because my body is digesting the food, not because I need a nap! I got frustrated because of the work I was doing, my reaction was to walk away, what can I do to calm down?
Learning how your mood is effected by your environment, the people around you, what you eat, how much exercise you have done, will help you to work out what you need to have a safe, happy productive environment to live in!
These "Zones of Regulation" are an excellent way of quickly self-assessing and, using Miss Read's chart, quickly address your mood to help you feel happier and more relaxed, getting yourself out of any discomfort and boredom.
