Today we are going to be editing and improving your draft story (all the paragraphs you have written over the week) and of course to keep writing your story if you didn’t have time to finish it yesterday.
When we edit and improve, remember we’re keeping an eye for three things:
- Correcting - Correcting and adding missing punctuation, missing words and misspellings
- Changing - Changing any words or sentences that are not clear, don’t make sense or are a bit repetitive.
- Adding - Adding extra words sentences to improve your writing. This could be a single extra adjective or adverb that adds much needed detail. Or, in a story, an extra sentence that helps add to the atmosphere or change the action.
Look at all the work you have done over the week and with your purple (or any other colour) pen re-read and make any changes you think you need to following the helpful hints above!
