Great Missenden Church of England Combined School

An Academy of the Great Learners Trust

                                    vendredi 22 mai 2020

Dear Year 6, this will be the last French distance learning work I set before the majority of you return to Great Missenden School on Tuesday 2nd June. After then, you will be completing projects in school and focusing on your transition to Secondary School.

It has been a real pleasure teaching you and I hope that I have shared with you all, my passion for language learning. Being able to communicate in another language is an incredibly important skill. As Nelson Mandella once said, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart".

Well done to every single one you for working so incredibly hard during your time in lockdown. I have tried to set a variety of activities each week to give you a good grounding for when you learn French in Year 7 at your next school.

This week, for your final lesson, I would like you to make a poster promoting French. The title should be 'Why learn French'. I would like you to include facts about French speaking countries, what advantages having an extra language can bring, and finally, why it's fun.

As optional extras, lots of you still have exercises to complete on the 'Thisislanguage site'. I will announce winners on June 2nd and prizes and certificates will be handed out at school.

Finally, if you enjoy baking, here are the links again to the French Yoghurt cake recipe. It's really popular in our home so please give it a go if you can and send in a picture.

Au revoir from Pierre and myself and stay in touch.
