The children will be doing PE on Tuesdays (Hall) and Thursdays (Outside). Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. We still encourage children to practice getting dressed at home to help them get changed quickly in school!
The children will be learning all about how to keep safe on-line and then having an introduction to the new Computer Room and using the computers or laptops every week.
Phonics will be taught every day for 30 minutes, the children will be in groups according to their needs and to ensure they are provided with the most suitable support.
Reading Records / Home School Communication Book
The books will be changed twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday. Please sign the yellow reading record to indicate that you have heard your child read.
The reading record will also be used as a communication channel between the parents and teachers – messages should be written in there. Please let your child know if you have written a message for us and please check regularly for messages from us. It is also the children’s responsibility to get their books and records out of their book bags and put it into the box every morning. If the children forget to put their book/record in the box, especially on book change day, they will not receive a new book that time.
We are now really focusing on using the cursive style of writing and this will be practiced each week in our handwriting lessons and within their everyday leaning. However if you would like to practice this further at home you can use http://www.teachhandwriting.co.uk/ for activities and letter formations.
Dropping off and Collection at the end of the day
Children can be dropped off in the KS1 playground from 8.40am when a member of staff will be on duty. Teachers will then come down onto the playground at 8.50am to walk the classes up to their classroom. Parents are encouraged to stay on the playground so the children can become more independent and have a calm settled start to the day. If your child is going to a friend’s house or being picked up by someone other than you, please inform the relevant teacher at the start of the day. At the end of the day the children can be collected from the steps by the classroom.
Please discourage your child from bringing in large rucksacks and pencil cases. These are not necessary and we are very short on space in the cloakroom areas. All the children need are their book bags, water bottles, PE kits and a coat when the weather changes.
