Position and Direction

Today we will be learning to describe turns. We will be thinking about right angle turns (which we can call quarter turns) as well as half turns. We will also been thinking about clockwise and anticlockwise movements.

1. Spend some time going through the attached PowerPoint presentation to practise making and describing turns.

2. Choose one or more of the below challenge choices to complete.

Hot and Spicy: Using pages 1, 2 and 3 from the Activity Sheets, complete three
clock jigsaws and then use the right angle finder to investigate different times on clocks.

Mega Hot: Using pages 4, 5 and 6 from the Activity Sheets, complete four
clock jigsaws and then use the right angle finder to investigate different times on clocks.

Are You Nuts?!: Using pages 7, 8 and 9 from the Activity Sheets, complete four
clock jigsaws and then use the right angle finder to investigate different times on clocks.

Extension: There are 8 Right Angle Challenge Cards...how many can you complete?

I have attached below a Make a Clock Face PDF which you may want to use for support for the activities in this lesson. I have also attached a Right Angle Finder that you may want to cut out and use to help you.
