Subtraction Word Problems

 

Today we will be practising solving subtraction word problems. I would like you to calculate the answers by using column subtraction.

 

Have a look at the posters below to remind yourself how to use the column method and how to set out your work.

 

                 

 

Remember to think carefully when subtracting a 2-digit number from a 3-digit number. Make sure you line up the hundreds, tens and ones correctly. Look at this example below:
