This week we are going to be carrying out some fun Maths investigations. They will give you a chance to practise using a variety of mathematical concepts and calculations.
Maths investigations are open-ended questions that have more than one correct answer.
You will need to choose an appropriate strategy (way), work through the investigation carefully and be able to explain your answer.
It is important to try to 'work systematically'. This means working in a methodical and efficient way by using a pattern or system.
The investigations today all involve working with numbers. You may need to use addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to find the different answers.
Remember to set your work out neatly and clearly.
Choose one or more of the below challenge choices to complete.
Spicy: 'Pick a pair' involves adding and subtracting numbers within 10.
Hot & Spicy: 'Dice Investigation' involves adding 2 numbers within 30
Mega Hot: 'Bean-bag buckets' involves adding 3 numbers within 20
Are You Nuts?!: 'Spaceship' involves using multiplication facts for the 2 and 3 times tables.
Extension: 'Maisie the mouse' involves using multiplication facts for the 4 and 5 times tables.
