Introduce the children to what symmetry is, can they tell you anything they already know about it? see attached – symmetry power point.
Explain to the children it has to be completely the same on the other side.
Are our faces symmetrical? If no then why? can they find any other items that are symmetrical? can they make a list or take photos of those things?
Today I would like the children to make a symmetrical butterfly, they can use paints or felt tips to do this. I have attached a butterfly they can use of they can draw their own.
I can't wait to see all their beautiful symmetrical butterflies.
