Maths home learning
In year 5 it is extremely important that every child knows their times tables off by heart. This allows them more time to think about methods and the structure of questions, rather than worrying about whether their times table knowledge is correct.
Word problems tend to be an area of maths with children struggle with as they have to decipher the question and choose what operation to use in order to accurately understand the problem at hand. In year 5, most of the word problems are now multi-step which often catches some out as we forget to read the whole question.
