Using the Phase 4 tricky word mat that is attached I would like you to practice what the children have been doing before.
Write the word on a whiteboard. Check that children can read it. Say a sentence using the word. Soundtalk the word, raising a finger for each phoneme. Ask children to do the same. Discuss the letters required for each phoneme, using letter names. Ask children to trace the shapes of the letters with their fingers. Rub the word off the whiteboard and ask all children to write the word on their own whiteboards. Repeat with all of the tricky words on the word mat.
Attached is also a phonics activity where the children need to fill in the missing words. There is an arrow pointing to what they should be writing. Answers are also attached.
