Phonics and Spellings

From September onwards, phonics word lists or graphemes are sent home weekly for children to practise. From January, weekly spelling lists are sent home and set online using ‘Spelling Shed’ and these words will follow our phonics teaching each week. They are then tested on their spellings at school every week. 

In Autumn Term 1, Year 1 will be reviewing what they have learned in Reception. Please see below an overview of what is being reviewed each week.

air er /z/ s –es words with two or more digraphs e.g. queen thicker

W/C 23rd September 2024
