Science

On a Tuesday afternoon we are going to be doing some science activities and the final topic for the year is 'Plants'. Normally this would be a very hands on and practical topic, but it might be a bit tricky to do some of the activities in the classroom with the social distancing rules. But as a class we can hopefully do some and maybe when you get home you could ask your parents to help you do some growing in the garden.

Today I want to know, what do you know about plants, seeds, bulbs and trees already? I know while lots of you have been at home you have been growing things in your gardens. Discuss plants, vegetables and trees etc. Which ones do they know, what do they look like? How can we help plants to grow?

Then watch this little clips about living things and then growing seeds:

Next, open up the ‘Growing PowerPoint’ to see how some plants grow and discuss.

Activity: Go outside and have a look in your garden/at school and see what you can see and then we will hopefully get to decorate a pot and plant some bits and bobs with Mrs Hanncock or at home with your family (depending on resources available!)
