In this week's lesson you will have another chance to practise using the key features of an atlas. Your challenge is to find places around the world! 🌎
First of all spend some time going through the PowerPoint below.
For your task, I would like you all to complete the Continents and Oceans Atlas Checklist. Can you find the 7 continents and 5 oceans in your atlas? (I have attached a word mat and world map below for support.)
There are then a range of additional tasks for you to complete if you would like:
Find it: Revise the key vocabulary using the Wonderful World Word Search.
Label it: Use your atlas to help you locate and label the 7 continents and 5 oceans on the World Map Continent and Ocean Labelling sheet.
Solve it: Try to work out the continents and oceans that each riddle is about using Atlas Riddles. Can you write your own riddle about a continent or ocean?
Read it: Complete one of the differentiated Continents of the World Reading Comprehension sheets to learn more about our world.
Design it: Use your creativity skills to create your own continent, using the Create a Continent Activity Sheet.
Create it: Practise labelling the continents and oceans using a hands on approach creating a lovely It’s a Small World Paper Globe.
Watch it: Choose a continent, then choose a country using an atlas. Next use the internet to watch webcams and view digital maps of your chosen country to explore it in more detail and make key observations. You could then create a Fact File.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO COMPLETE THIS TASK.
IT IS DUE IN ON TUESDAY 2ND JUNE.
