We wanted to offer a talking point for you to talk to your children about racism, in the light of the recent issues in the news. Our first response was the Brilliant Book assembly on Friday, but we felt that we needed to do more. As we are not seeing the children face to face at the moment, our natural times when we would discuss these issues sensitively in class are not available and we are extremely mindful of not giving a trite response to this important issue.
Please find below a clip from BBC bitesize, which discusses the issue of racism through some hard-hitting drama and the poetry of Benjamin Zephaniah. We would encourage you to watch this with your child and discuss it, in the context of all the issues that are being highlighted in the news currently. Please bear in mind that they do not hold back in the drama.
