Read the story ‘The Tiny Seed’ by Eric Carle. Talk to the children about the vocabulary and language as you are reading the story. What happens to the tiny seed in the story? talk about how the seasons change throughout the book. How do animals help the seeds to move? What impact do the seasons have? What did the seed need to grow? What is a life cycle of a seed? Talk about a dandelion as an example and how the seeds disperse all over the place. They then need water, soil (nutrients) and sunlight to help them grow. They then grow into dandelions and the whole cycle starts again.
Activity: Children to complete the life cycle of a seed for a flower. Children to cut and stick in the correct order, with the arrows showing the direction. Talk to the children about the cycle as they are completing it.
