  • Forest School

At Great Missenden Pre-School, our Pre-School Lead Mrs Swallow is a qualified Forest School Leader. The Forest School ethos is embedded into the learning experiences within Pre-School and we have a Forest School session on a Friday morning.

Forest School is a unique and valuable experience where children are able to explore and experience appropriate risk and challenge. There is an underpinned holistic approach which enables development to thrive through a variety of activities and opportunities in a natural environment.

Please ensure that your child comes into school in the following clothing:
    • Outdoor shoes – Walking boots, trainers or Wellingtons.
    • Warm socks
    • A warm coat – preferably water proof
    • A jumper or fleece
    • A t-shirt
    • Trousers – track suit bottoms.
    • Waterproof over-trousers if possible
    • An extra layer of clothing depending on the weather

Please write your child’s name on all items of clothing and shoes.
Please ensure your child brings their usual school uniform in a bag to change into after Forest School.

During Forest School sessions, children are encouraged to work with others to carry out activities such as den/ shelter building, role play, exploration, practical and creative skills and tasks.
I am sure that your child will make the most of this wonderful opportunity to learn outdoors, and apply their new learning within the classroom.
