Our School Council Leadership Group is a dedicated team of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils who work together to make a real difference within our school and the wider community.
This is not simply a discussion group — it is an active leadership body where pupils take responsibility, lead initiatives and represent the voice of their peers.
We believe children are capable of meaningful leadership when given real responsibility.
Our School Council exists to:
Develop confident, responsible leaders
Strengthen pupil voice
Promote environmental responsibility
Build strong community links
Create positive and lasting change within our school
The School Council combines three key areas of leadership:
Leading sustainability projects, promoting environmental awareness and driving eco-friendly initiatives across the school.
Representing pupil voice, supporting school events and modelling outstanding behaviour and responsibility.
Identifying areas for improvement and planning meaningful projects that positively impact school life.
Members of the School Council visit Abbeyfield once a month (first Tuesday of each month) to strengthen community links.
These visits help pupils:
Build relationships across generations
Develop empathy and communication skills
Understand the importance of service and citizenship
Together, these departments ensure that every decision and action supports our school community.
