Reading

Hearing your child read is so important! From September onwards, children are expected to read their banded book at least 5 times per week with an adult and this should be recorded in their reading record. Also, parents are encouraged to read to their children regularly, including other books the child has chosen.     

In our Guided Reading lessons we focus on the VIPER reading skills. These are: Vocabulary, Infer, Predict, Explain, Retrieve and Sequence.
