Reading

From September onwards, children are expected to read a book at least 5 times per week and record their own notes in their homework diary under the ‘reading record’ section. If the child is reading a banded book, they should read this with an adult at least 3 times a week and this should be recorded in their homework diary under the ‘reading record’ section. Children should be familiar with the VIPERS reading skills and use these when reading and discussing the text. Also, children are encouraged to read their own free choice book for enjoyment. This can be recorded in their homework diary.
