Reading

From September onwards, children are expected to read their banded book at least 5 times per week. At least 3 of these reading sessions should be with an adult and this should be recorded in their homework diary under the ‘reading record’ section. As children become familiar with the VIPERS reading skills, they should use these when discussing the text with their adult and adults should use these reading skills to ask their child questions. Also, children are encouraged to read their own free choice book for enjoyment. This can be recorded in their homework diary.
