This year, we’re putting a big focus on times tables in Year 3 — and we want the children to have fun with it too! Learning times tables fluently really helps with all areas of maths, so we’re encouraging everyone to practise little and often.

Children have access to Times Tables Rock Stars, an online platform where they can practise their tables regularly. One weekly maths quiz is set online, and there will also be regular Times Tables Rock Stars competitions to make learning even more exciting!

In Year 3, the main focus will be on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables, but the more tables children know, the easier maths will become.

A great way to practise at home is by learning the times tables songs — they’re fun, catchy, and really help the memory! Why not have a go at them together: Laugh Along and Learn - YouTube
